Partridge wood is a fine, quality wood. The grain is very striking, the rich dark tones contrasting with narrow sapwood bands which give a distinctive figure resembling a partridge wing markings. The timber is strong and heavy, with high resistance to impact and abrasion. The finishing qualities are very good, and partridge wood has excellent stability.
